ghostwriting

Everybody has a story to tell, and I help people bring their stories into the world.

I have helped over 50 clients publish their non-fiction books. I take your outline and notes, add research and interview you to fill in the gaps. You get a complete manuscript that is ready to publish (or edit further).

Do you have an idea you can’t stop thinking about? Maybe you have been thinking about writing your own book but are short on time, juggling too many other responsibilities, or don’t know where to start. With your thoughts and my skills, we can work together to produce a manuscript that feels like you wrote it.

I bring both academic and practical expertise to your project, and the manuscripts I have written for other people are backed formal training and a wide-ranging foundation of education in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. One of my first writing teachers told me that the best way to be a good writer is to read—he compared reading and writing to the two wheels of a bike—so I consume paperbacks widely across genres of novels, memoir, and non-fiction. I love learning about absolutely everything, so I can almost guarantee that I will find your topic interesting.

I am very well-versed in Amazon KDP and have experience working as an in-house writer for companies that produce ghostwritten books. My prices are competitive with these leading platforms, but when you work with me, you get a 1-on-1 partnership without an intermediary. This gives us a smoother, more transparent working process, and results in a better manuscript without an inflated price. While self-publishing is an effective way to reach an audience, it has also led to a market flooded with low-quality ebooks produced without regard for the content within. I prefer to work on meaningful stories and helping people with great ideas who lack the time or skills to write them. Doing this work ethically and transparently is very important to me. Since becoming a mother, I can relate by thinking of myself as a “book surrogate”—I will carry your idea, nurture it, and help it grow into a book that I give back to you, all the while feeling like it is authentically “yours.”

I describe my writing style in general is direct and succinct, and my background in academia has made me meticulous about references and citations. That being said, I do acknowledge the difference between academic, professional, and personal writing for lay audiences and am happy to take on the tone of your voice, and work together to make sure it’s right. I take direction well and am invested in helping you create a text that feels like your own. While I’m comfortable taking creative reign, I also appreciate when you actively collaborate and have a clear vision for your manuscript. Whether you’ve worked with another company, platform, or writer before, or are still deciding which route to take, we can set up a Zoom call to discuss my experience and how I may be able to help bring your idea to life.

samples

I offer a free 1000-word sample to help you understand my writing style and how I will approach your project. I’m happy to work on a section of your outline, a sample chapter, or an introduction. I can also provide samples from past projects I have worked on.

outlines

I am comfortable working with both detailed and general outlines, and can provide a sample blank outline for your use. Additionally, I can create a custom book outline tailored to your research for a flat fee (you can use me as your writer or take this elsewhere) or we can take an “interview style” approach where I ask you questions about your idea.

AI policy

I am familiar with various models and have completed coursework, research, and training on generative AI, including its application in education and teaching. My personal take is that I think large language models are one of many tools writers can use, much like an online thesaurus or spell check. They are not a replacement for research or writing. I focus on “augmented” rather than “artificial” intelligence—an idea that highlights how AI can enhance human capabilities, not perform tasks without human intervention. I am happy to talk more about how you see AI fitting (or not fitting) into your project.
